The Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Washington DC, which focuses on the intersection between roofing and energy and environmental performance. The Center's core mission is to "serve as a forum to draw together the entire roofing industry to the common cause of promoting the roofing knowledge base, development and use of environmentally responsible, high performance roof systems."

History

In February 2008, a group of industry leaders established the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing, a 501(c)(6) organization designed to promote the knowledge base, development and use of environmentally responsible, high-performance roof systems. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Center was created with specific objectives:

• Serve as a repository for information pertaining to energy, the environment and roofing
• Coordinating and encouraging objective research
• Serve as a research link between academia and industry and providing a forum for ongoing peer review of such research
• Safeguard jurisdiction to ensure new roofing products, systems and services remain within the sphere of the roofing industry
• Expand market opportunities
• Develop science-based advocacy on behalf of the industry
• Coordinate standards and codes, both in the U.S. and abroad^[1]

The Center commenced operations on March 4, 2008..

Every year, the Houston Business Journal puts out a list of the area’s top 100 fastest-growing companies.  To make this year’s list, the companies had to have made $1 million in revenue last year, have been in existence for least five years and exemplify large growth from 2009 to 2011.
Below are three companies that made the cut this year. Their ranks, along with all the companies’ ranks, will be revealed at our awards event Sept. 7.

General Structural Development made more than $5.6 million in 2011 doing commercial construction. With its six employees, partners Sam Seidel, Aaron Davis, Drew Ondrey and James Laycock lead the way. The company was founded in 2007.

Integris Roofing Services was founded in 1983 and since then has grown to more than 40 employees. Led by executive partners Sidhartha R. Sen and Nelson Alvarado Jr., Integris made more than $3.5 million in revenue doing commercial roofing work last year.

Since its establishment in 1980, Link Staffing Services has grown to a company with 78 employees and revenue of more than $93 million in 2011. Bill Pitts and Karen Pitts are co-CEOs of this industrial staffing company.
